Through abstracting and deconstructing a rhombic dodecahedron, the work finds a dynamic space that unfolds from within the geometry, with the resulting prismic interface giving shape to the surrounding light environment. In moving in relation to the interface, the viewer generates confluences of shape, space and light that blur the boundary between the object and its atmosphere.
The construction is created through cutting and grinding precise angles into the sides and corners of glass panels that are then bonded together. The optical coatings applied through magnetron sputtering are unique to this piece, derived from optical elements in screen and projection technologies that filter specific wavelengths of light.
