Timescape (quietude: Blue)

Hand blown glass, monofilament, LEDs. 2019
5m x 5m

The installation considers our relationship to analogue time, creating a meditative composition of blue glass lenses that reflect a clockwork of light around the room, stimulating an experience of time that is connected to the body and to its movement in space.

Light traces a cone in four-dimensional space-time like ripples on a pond that grow larger as they travel. In space-time, the past is whatever is inside our past light-cone, it’s whatever can affect us. The future is the opposite cone. “Now” means nothing beyond the temporal bubble in which we can disregard the time it takes for light to go back and forth - Carlo Rovelli
